In Arabic, we distinguish between masculine and feminine numerals. However, the numbers 3 through 10 are somewhat “cheating”. The feminine ending (ة / ـة) has masculine numerals and the feminine look like masculine!
The numbers 1 and 2 behave like an adjective, so they should be put after the noun (the others are placed before). These numerals should be in the correct gender and number of the noun, eg كِتَابٌ وَاحِدٌ.
On the other hand, the numbers from 3 to 10 force the noun to be indefinite, both in the genitive and in the plural, eg أَرْبْعَةٌ سَيَّارَاتٍ.
