There is no permanent accent in Arabic. It often changes and stops at different words. What's worse, the accent can be completely different in each dialect!
Fortunately, a general scheme has been developed to facilitate correct accentuation.
- The accent is on the first long vowel from the end
- If there are only short vowels in a word, the accent will be on the first
- When a preposition is combined with a pronoun, it takes over the accent
- When there is a long vowel at the very end, the accent is at the very beginning of the word
